Spring Break

My Spring break started out pretty exciting. I first went to Sun Valley with my dad for a few days and had a great time. The snow might not have been very good, but the skiing was still awesome. We both got to use a smart phone app that tracked where we've been, speed, and other cool stats about your day. After 3 days of skiing, we had over 120,000 vertical feet skied and my top speed was over 51 mph.

After I got back from break I was expecting to have a nice relaxing couple of days before I had to come back to Boise. Instead, my friend texted me saying that he got a pass from his uncle to get into the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. He didn't want to go by himself so he decided to use some of his money and got some money from his parents to get me into the expo because I didn't have any money to spend myself. I didn't really know what to expect going into it because I'm not a game developer but all of that is interesting to me. I ended up having a great time at GDC, getting to go around to hundreds of booths learning about all of the new techniques and software that are being implemented to the video games of tomorrow. This year at GDC, the main focus was on smart phone and tablet games and apps and virtual reality. The apps weren't very interesting or fun but the different forms of virtual reality they had at GDC were pretty cool to see in motion, even though the lines to use the machines were about 4 hours long each.
