To me, my diet is very important not only because I want to
be healthy and live a healthy life, but because I am also an athlete. If I want
to perform my best, then I have to eat healthy, or at least mostly healthy. I
do not perceive my diet as something that would help me work harder or study
harder. I think of all food as some sort of fuel and as long as I’m getting
fuel, I will be able to work and study as I normally do every day. I do see my
diet as something that helps me with other activities though, like I mentioned
earlier, I am an athlete and I need food, and good, healthy food to help me
perform at the best of my abilities. It is also important when I’m doing just
about any other physical activity like running, lifting weights, or skiing. Without
a good diet, I would probably not be able to do these activities to my full
capabilities. One dietary change I would make would be to have more healthy
food in my room. It is kind of hard to have that much healthy food in a dorm
room because there are not really many places to store it all. Most of the
foods that can be stored outside of a fridge are unhealthy or on-the-go food. I
also don’t have a car to be able to go shopping whenever I need to, to be able
to stock up on healthy food. Because of this, I have to deal with what the BRC
has in store for me. Even when I’m there I try to eat healthy but not eating a
lot of the deserts and always having fruit every time I go. The change that I
would have to make, and that I will make next year, to be able to have the diet
that I want and need would be to live off campus and have a car. Living off
campus would allow me to make and store my own food a lot easier and having a car
would allow me to get to the store and buy food and ingredients a lot easier.
I agree that your diet is important to be healthy and to be an athlete. All food is fuel, but you want to have the right food that give you the rights fuels for energy. Eating good food will help when you run, lift weights or ski with Noah, your right. You need that good energy to get yourself through the activity that you chose. I like the dietary change that you will make. I agree that " on the go food" is usually not the best for you. Taking those fruits for the BRC and not having desserts is a good choice to! For when you live off campus next year... make sure you pick the right healthy food as well. Its will be nicer to live off campus though to for our eating habits. Its going to cost more to eat, rather than it being free from the BRC, just make sure though you are getting the right amount of good food that will give you energy even if it is more expensive! Nice job!
