SMART Goals

I’m going to start off by saying that I did not make any SMART goals. The reason I did this is because I don’t really like making goals like that. I find that when you make a goal, there are times that you can get too overwhelmed in trying to achieve what you already set out to do, which is pretty much setting yourself up for failure. You may not fail the goal by doing this, but there will be something else that you will forget about because you are too focused on your goal. The main reason I do not set goals, is just for that reason. I don’t want to fail. My soccer coach from 3 years ago made us make goals before every game. One game when we were playing our rivals from Danville, I made a crazy goal, which was to get 25 jukes in the game. I ended up actually accomplishing this goal and finishing it by juking out a guy 5 times in a row in the last 5 minutes. If the team was any better, my goal could have affected the rest of the team because maybe I would have lost the ball a lot more than I did and we could have lost. The next season, we stopped making goals because a few of us realized that we didn’t need to make goals to do well in our games.

My Diet

To me, my diet is very important not only because I want to be healthy and live a healthy life, but because I am also an athlete. If I want to perform my best, then I have to eat healthy, or at least mostly healthy. I do not perceive my diet as something that would help me work harder or study harder. I think of all food as some sort of fuel and as long as I’m getting fuel, I will be able to work and study as I normally do every day. I do see my diet as something that helps me with other activities though, like I mentioned earlier, I am an athlete and I need food, and good, healthy food to help me perform at the best of my abilities. It is also important when I’m doing just about any other physical activity like running, lifting weights, or skiing. Without a good diet, I would probably not be able to do these activities to my full capabilities. One dietary change I would make would be to have more healthy food in my room. It is kind of hard to have that much healthy food in a dorm room because there are not really many places to store it all. Most of the foods that can be stored outside of a fridge are unhealthy or on-the-go food. I also don’t have a car to be able to go shopping whenever I need to, to be able to stock up on healthy food. Because of this, I have to deal with what the BRC has in store for me. Even when I’m there I try to eat healthy but not eating a lot of the deserts and always having fruit every time I go. The change that I would have to make, and that I will make next year, to be able to have the diet that I want and need would be to live off campus and have a car. Living off campus would allow me to make and store my own food a lot easier and having a car would allow me to get to the store and buy food and ingredients a lot easier.

My Part of the Bike

I feel like I would be the pedals. From what I got from watching the video is that the pedals are like a manager or someone who sets the pace and keeps everything going. They also relay information to the rest of the bike to get things going. The pedal also seems like one of the first steps in the drive train to get things going, obviously the teacher being the one riding the bike and the one that actually gets the bike moving. If I were the pedals, that would mean that I would be listening to the teacher's directions and trying to set the pace and get everyone going in the right direction. Because I am the pedals on this bike, I would have to give 100% of my effort just to keep the bike moving. If I give any less, the bike will start to slow down and it might even fall over. This semester, what I will try to do is to make sure everything rides smooth for the rest of the year. In class, once we get our instructions I will try to be the one that puts them to action and also gets everyone else in the class up and ready to do whatever we have to do. The pedals on my bike will never stop moving because I will always be trying to do the best I can with what I have. If someone is down and out, I will try and help them back to where they need to be. Because I am the pedals on this bike, I need to get everyone to not only listen to me, but to listen to everyone else. If something goes wrong in the some other part of the drive train, I can’t just keep going at full speed, I need to stop or slow down and try and fix the problem. If one part of the bike is broken, then none of it will work.
